So here's the back story: I was on a feverish hunt for white heels to pair with my dope thrifted white jeans and flowered lilac colored top. Labor Day is quickly approaching, and since I LOVE to wear the color white, I want to wear all the white that I can without falling into that whole "no wearing white after Labor Day" mess!
I'm searching around the discounted store and BAM! I see them! All white Betsy Johnson cage stilettos, just my size, too! What luck! I quickly scoop them up and look inside the shoe at the price. It was on sale, $39.99! Great price, especially when the original price was $129.99! You guys know I LIVE for a bargain, so I was in heaven! A lady walked by and saw the shoes in my hand. "I saw those shoes" she said. "I picked them up and even tried them on! They're very cute, but the heel is just too high for me, so I had to pass!" But I chose NOT to pass; they were MINE!
I get to the counter and give my shoes to the cashier. "These are really cute!" she comments. We continue to have our small talk about cute high heels when she stops in her tracks. The conversation came to a screeching halt. She just stared at the computer screen, then looked at me. Then she looked at the computer screen and looked at me agin! I politely asked what caught her so off guard. She looked back up at me and said "I haven't seen this before...these shoes are ringing up at $0.01. A penny!" I was floored! She had no explanation for it. I figured it was because they had been there a while and it's shelf life was coming to an end. Maybe it was a computer glitch? Only God knows. But I was extremely grateful for the blessing! I reached in my coin purse, pulled out one shiny penny and happily gave it to the cashier.
Needless to say, I think the shoes were worth every penny...literally!
Until our next fashion adventure...love more, save more, live more!
